Construction has begun on a three Kilometer chain-link security fence( see above) in preparation for the G20 summit in Toronto June 26th and June 27th.
The main venue for the G20 meeting will be the Metro Toronto Convention Centre that just happens to be in he centre of Toronto Financial District Condos.
Residents and some office workers will have to pass security zone checkpoints and show their security pass or provide photo identifications as well.
The main function of the fence is to insulate the leaders from protesters.
"This fence is really about stopping people from protesting and keeping them as far away as possible. Spending a billion dollars on something like this is outrageous," said a protester.
The Federal Government will spend more than a billion dollars on the summit, so some money should have been set aside for area residents and business.
The security fencing will start coming down on June 28.
Commuters will see their long commutes extended even further with all the traffic disruptions happening even now.
Residents of Toronto Harbourfront Condos have also been restricted in moving furniture and also restricted on how Real Estate Agents can show their Condos to prospective buyers and tenants during the summit.
