A total of 33,615 new Homes and Condos sold in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area in 2009.
December was a very active month for new home sales bringing the total sales to higher levels than the beginning of the year.
The average new home sales average between 2000-2009 was 45,000 so the December 2009 results were moving in the right direction.
According to the Building and Land Development Association 29,000 new home and Condo sales are projected for 2010. This projection reflects the pending HST in Ontario and the withdrawal of Government stimulus in the financial field.
In Toronto new home sales were up 189.5 per cent for the year and new Condo sales were up 994.6 per cent for 2009. It should be noted that in the fourth quarter surge in sales 70 per cent were high-rise Condos.
