Toronto Port Lands Development To Speed Up

September 22, 2011 - Updated: September 22, 2011

Waterfront Toronto To Continue Developing Port Lands

In a far reaching debate at Toronto City Council, it was decided to stay with and speed up the current Port lands development.

Applause broke out in the Council chamber with many councillors giving members of the public a standing ovation for their continuing input on the controversial debate.

The mayor's plan to seize control of the Port Lands from Waterfront Toronto was defeated and Waterfront Toronto is in charge of building mixed-use communities on the Toronto Waterfront that will include Condos, Offices and Street level retail and Parklands.

With this new momentum and new plan construction cranes should be up in 5 to 10 years rather than the original estimate of 20 to 25 years.
