A Toronto residential tax hike should translate into a 4 per cent increase in the upcoming Toronto City budget.

Each 1-per-cent rise in Toronto property taxes result in a total of 20.7 million for city coffers, according to officials.

The mayor had earlier suggested a 2 and 4 per cent increase but is now believed to favor the higher amount.
